Education

We are convinced education is the foundation of a sustainable development.

Empowerment of women and girls, literacy and teacher training

These are some of the building blocks of our education programmes. In all our projects, there is a particular focus on the inclusion of disadvantaged people – so-called “low caste” people and the poorest – and people in the project communities are involved in the development and implementation of the projects.

Education is a fundamental human right, however many children in rural Nepal miss out on the opportunity to access any schooling. Dropout rates are high means that those who do enrol often don’t complete their education.

PHASE addresses problems in education on multiple levels: by creating “flexible curriculum schools” for children who live too far from the nearest school, by providing teacher training and improving learning environments, by building or improving school buildings, by raising awaress for the importance of education among the communities, by providing adult literacy courses and by making sure that the most disadvantaged – “low caste” children, girls and the poorest – have access to quality education.
