Healthcare for all: primary care and maternal and child health
The focus of our health projects is to improve access to quality maternal and child healthcare and to raise awareness about hygiene and nutrition. Qualified health workers provide obstetrics and pre and post natal care, and monitor the nutrional status of young children (under five years). Besides healthcare, all programmes also include awareness raising and health education (nutrition, sanitation, prevention of diarrhoea etc.) as well as WASH projects (toilets, drinking water).
PHASE addresses different levels of this problem by providing qualified staff and medicines, by giving further training to employees, by upgrading buildings, by raising awareness and offering health and hygiene education in schools, by improving sanitation (drinking water, toilets). We aim to sustainably improve the situation and create an awareness of their right to quality health services among the local people in order to empower these communities to advocate for this right themselves.
